Acrylic classes this summer were lots of fun. Tannis and her mom Haruko enjoyed painting with Open™ acrylics. Tannis had never painted before so she now proudly shows off her work. On the right is Tannis with her colourful flowers and calm landscape.
Also this summer we painted "en plein air" at the ruins in
St. Norbert and at Captain Kennedy's.
The weather couldn't have been any better and the bonus was NO MOSQUITOES!
Audrey shows off her painting at St. Norbert and Diane (left) is absorbed in
her work.
Something that I haven't done in a long time was to work with children. As a favour for fellow artist and Studio Member Sharon, I gave a 2-hour lesson to four of her grandchildren. What a blast! We all had great fun and they took home finished matted paintings and Tyvek® wall hangings.
.
They were so creative that they even sculpted creatures out of the left over aluminum foil from their mono prints! What a joy to see such wonder and no fear to try new things

First Fridays in the Exchange District has grown immensely over the year that I have been involved.
We had crowds of 83 in August and the September long weekend had about 40 people through the building visiting studios.
Come out October 7 for the next show where the artists in 611 will be
showing "What We Are Thankful For". The Studio will be open
from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. to see our work and also visit the other studios.

In November I will be displaying at Manitoba Art Expo from November 3rd through 6th.
Mark those dates on your calendar.
I look forward to seeing you that weekend!

The demo for this month's issue is from the painting "Bridging".
This art work is sold and will be lovingly displayed in a home in North Vancouver
The sketch started out from a
drawing I had done from one of my Workshops in Spain and resulted as an
abstract with thought of becoming connected after the series
Disconnect.
Bridging was
outlined on a canvas with chalk and then I started filling in the areas with
the dominant colors.
At this point I abandoned the
upper areas and concentrated on the bridge itself.
Further along in the creative
process, the tree shape still shows and the swirling blues echo in the
ground and sky areas.
After some thought, the tree was now gone and the sky area became golden and no longer blue.
Bridging in its final form is on the right.
