The Beginner/ Intermediate class will focus on ways to strengthen composition, using negative space for better design quality, mixing expressive colour, and taking your art a step further than the ‘safe zone’.  Participants will be encouraged to try different approaches to their art. 

The Intermediate and Advanced Classes will focus on strength of colour and value in watercolours.  Leona will do in-depth demos allowing students to "get inside her head" to see and understand the decisions that she makes that contribute to her success.  The purpose and focus of this workshop is to create drama, contrast and mood in the student's work.  Specific applications will be taught such as values, focal point techniques, soft and hard edges, transparent and opaque layers, composition and design.  Leona will share her experience about visual literacy and being intuitive in the process of painting.  Please bring your own reference material of photos and/or sketches.  Bring two of your paintings that you want to make stronger for the first class.
